Dominic Pulera is an author and commentator who focuses on issues related to race, ethnicity, and gender. A native of Wisconsin, he was born in 1974. He is a magna cum laude graduate (1995) of Beloit College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned Departmental Honors in History, among other honors.
Pulera is an internationally recognized expert on matters involving race, culture, and diversity. His writings include two well-received works of serious nonfiction: VISIBLE DIFFERENCES (2002) and SHARING THE DREAM (2004). Pulera's next book is the forthcoming GREEN, WHITE, AND RED, a broad treatment of the experiences of people of Italian origin, particularly Italian Americans, around the globe.
A periodic guest on various media shows, Pulera has appeared on radio and television programs in many major U.S. cities. His national media appearances include Book TV and "The Tom Pope Show."
Pulera's work regularly brings him into contact with a wide range of decision-makers in such fields as business, religion, education, diplomacy, and politics/government. He had his first private audience with a sitting head of state at age 29.
Pulera frequently speaks to academic audiences and community groups. By the age of 30, he had addressed academic audiences on each continent, everywhere from Belgium to Botswana, from Iceland to India, and from Georgetown to Geneva. In addition, he often speaks to community groups in the United States.
